Berit Marit Hætta was a member of Máze, a musical group during the 1970es. She also illustrated the first Sami book for children published in the Northern Sami language.
Aage Gaup and Berit Marit Hættawon The Hedda Award 2000 in best visual design category for their stage design (Gaup) and costume design (Hætta) for The Lay of Volund (in the Sami language: Volundda muitalus) by The Norwegian National Sami Theatre Company Beaivváš, produced in 2000.
