Ellen Dorrit Petersen

Ellen Dorrit Petersen (born 1975) is a Norwegian actress. Petersen completed her education as an actress at Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2005. The same autumn she started working for Rogaland Theatre, where she acted in Pinocchio's ashes by Danish Jokum Rohde, and had the role of Mrs. Maja against Even Stormoen's Rubek in When We Dead Awaken.

The autumn of 2006 she transferred to The Norwegian Theatre, where the plays she took part in include the Hedda-nominated production for children called Betre utan ball* (Better without a ball, several roles, 2007), Ottilie Klamroth in Gerhart Hauptmann's Before Sunset (2008), Cleopatra in Moira Buffini/Nikolaj Erdman's Dying for It (2009), and the title role in Racine's Andromache (2009). I 2011 she acted in Jon Fosse's The Name and Gyrid Axe Øvsteng's Gjøglaren* (The Jester), and in 2012 the Brazilian woman in Are Kalvø's Norge-Brasil* (Norway-Brazil) and the guide in Kjetil Bang-Hansen's dramatisation of Lothar-Günther Buchheim's novel The Boat.

Ellen Dorrit Petersen was nominated for The Hedda Award 2007 in the best supporting actress category for the roles of Erika in The Bus by Lukas Bärfuss and Pegeen in The Playboy of the Western World by John M. Synge, both at The Norwegian Theatre.
