The Hedda Jury gave the following reason for the award to Ågot Sendstad:

"This year's award winner in the best supporting actress category is an actress who elegantly and credibly moves between the down-to-earth and the intangible. She tours the dry and rough and the poetic and warm. At one and the same time, she conveys the humorous and the solemn. She handles the transcendental with natural acceptance. In the performance for which she gets the award, she switches between several different roles. They all seem like different personalities, each with its strong and its vulnerable points. At the same time, she manages to connect them with an undertone they have in common: They are all independent thinkers. They all have the power to resist.

This year's award goes to Ågot Sendstad for Angels in America."

From 1994 to 1996 Ågot Sendstad worked for Rogaland Theatre, where her roles included Viola in Twelfth Night, Carol in Oleanna by David Mamet and Mrs. Linde in A Doll's House.

From 1996 she has been employed by The National Theatre, where she has done a number of roles, including Lisbeth in Erasmus Montanus, Hedvig in The Wild Duck, Mrs. Maia Rubek in When We Dead Awaken, Masha in The Seagull, Ophelia in Hamlet, Mrs. Linde in A Doll's House, the contract killer in I Hired a Contract Killer, the woman in Winter (by Fosse), Mette in The Celebration, The Lady in The Road to Damascus, Aurelia in A Spanish Play, the manager in Six Characters in Search of an Author, the hostess in Salong* (Salon), Anna in The Lower Depths, Annette in God of Carnage, Nora Helmer in A Doll's House, the title role in Anna Karenina and Beverly Moss in Abigail's Party.
