Per-Olav Sørensen
Per-Olav Sørensen (born 1963) is a Norwegian theatre, film and TV director.
He started his theatre career in USA early 1990es, where he after being directorial assistant for Stein Winge wrote and directed several prize awarded theatre plays. During the period from 1998 to 2001 Per-Olav Sørensen returned to Norway to work as a director at Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre). The past years Per-Olav Sørensen has worked as a freelance director and he runs his own production company, POS Theatre Company.

In USA Per-Olav Sørensen worked with the Czech stage designer Pavel Dobrusky and they created prizewinning new theatre drama. The approach to the theatre was very open with use of multi talents, expressive stage design, dance, circus and newly composed music and the performances received several awards and excellent reviews in Variety and American Theatre Magazine.
Since 2001 Sørensen has worked as a freelance director, with a continuous link to The National Theatre of Norway during the reign of Eirik Stubø. Perhaps the most interesting is the collaboration between The National Theatre and Sørensen's own company POS Theatre Company. In addition Per-Olav Sørensen has had freelance assignments at several of Norway's most important regional and private theatres, such as Rogaland Theatre and The National Venue of Theatre in Bergen.
Fuck My Life, directed by Per-Olav Sørensen for The Norwegian Theatre, was nominated for The Hedda Award 2013 in the best production for children and youth category.
Per-Olav Sørensen's interpretation of Hedda Gabler at Trøndelag Theatre in 2006 was nominated for The Hedda Award 2006 in the category of theatre project of the year.
Per-Olav Sørensenwrote the script for and directed Tater!* (Gypsy!), a theatre production produced by Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) in 2000. The theatre was nominated for The Hedda Award 2000 in the open category for the production.
Per-Olav Sørensen directed Sexyby Arne Berggren for Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo New Theatre) and was nominated for The Hedda Award 1998 in the best direction category.
