Svend Wam

Svend Olaf Wamnes Akstuft (born May 5 1946 in Son in the county of Akershus, dead 7th of MAy 2017 in Vestby), known as Svend Wam, was a Norwegian movie director and producer.

Wam studied at Fotoskolan and Dokumentärfilmskolan.

Wam was a central person in Norwegian film since the beginning of the 1970es, independently and in collaboration with Petter Vennerød in the companies Mefistofilm and Wam & Vennerød.

Svend Wam made his debut as a movie director with the movie Fem døgn i august (literally: Five days & nights in August) in 1973. 

Sixteen full-length movies were written, directed and produced during a period of approximately 25 years. One point eight million Norwegians went to the movies to see the films. That makes an average of about 150 000 spectators per movie.
