Ferdinand Bruckner

Also known as: Theodor Tagger

Ferdinand Bruckner was a writer and a playwright.

He was born as Theodor Tagger in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1891 and lived in Vienna and Paris among other places before he settled in Berlin. He studied music and began to write literature.

In 1933 he emigrated from Berlin to Paris, where he wrote the anti-fascist play Race (Die Rassen). He fled to USA in 1936, living there until he returned to Germany in 1953.

In 1946, after having written several plays under the pseudonym of Ferdinand Bruckner he legally switched names to be officially named Ferdinand Bruckner.

He died in Berlin in 1958.
