Mona Hofland

Among the roles Mona Hofland interpreted were the role of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (1960 and 1963/64, Det Nye Teater and Rogaland Theatre), the title role of Hedda Gabler (1966, Rogaland Theatre), Alice in The Dance of Death (1970), Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1974), the title role of Bess (1983), the title role of Mother Courage (1981), Ella Rentheim in John Gabriel Borkman (1991), the title role of Piaf (The Norwegian Touring Theatre 1982), Pernille and Magdelone in The Fussy Man (the former in 1968, the latter in her farewell performance in 1999 and 2000). All productions above, for which the theatre is not mentioned, took place at The National Theatre and/or at The Torshov Theatre.

Mona Hofland was awarded Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s radio theatre award Blå fugl (literally, Blue Bird, 1988), the Per Aabel Honorary Award (1994) and the honorary award of Gösta Ekman. She was an honorary member of The Norwegian Actors’ Equity Association/NAEA and in 2001 she was bestowed The Order of St. Olaf, as a knight.

Mona Hofland was married to fellow actor Espen Skjønberg.
