Andrea Maurer
Andrea Maurer (b. 1978 in Salzburg) is a Vienna based artist who develops works in different media such as performance, installation, object, film, drawing and text, questioning conventions of language and perception and moving along the fine line between sense and non-sense. Her works are received in various places and contexts such as stage, exhibition, public space and cinema. Her recent projects include the performance numbers in pieces, the sight specific intervention Die Baugrube (the excavation pit) and the installation Poelstra stolpert, Maurer sägt (Poelstra stumbles, Maurer saws) - all of those exploring the notion of work and challenging its relationship to the given standards of purpose/purposelessness.
