Space Automatism

Velkommen til kunstnerisk stipendiat Ingvild Holms digitale disputas 10. juni. I dette offentlige arrangementet avslutter hun sitt kunstneriske forskningsprosjekt Space Automatism gjennom samtale og refleksjon med bedømmelseskomiteen. På grunn av situasjonen ble arrangementet strømmet direkte.

Space Automatism undersøker hvordan sted og kontekst påvirker innhold og metode, med stedet selv som protagonist. Prosjektet behandler politiske og strukturelle spørsmål gjennom en serie stedsspesifikke, teatrale og objektorienterte situasjoner.

Protagonistene er ulike steder – blant annet hennes eget teaterrom, kontor ved Norwegian Theatre Academy, selve institusjonen, kjøkkenet og avfallet hennes, Chat Noir i Oslo, Det Norske Teatret, Galleri F15, museer i Nord-Sverige og Luleåbiennalen, Nationaltheatret i Oslo og Venezia. Disse fremtrer gjennom performance, teater, visuell kunst, tekst og video, og er utviklet i dialog med hvert enkelt sted og dets kontekst.

Bedømmelseskomiteen besto av Frans Jacobi, Efva Lilja og Hilmar Fredriksen. Disputasen ble ledet av professor Serge von Arx.

Prosjektet var støttet av Program for kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid og Norwegian Theatre Academy / Høgskolen i Østfold.

Welcome to artistic research fellow Ingvild Holm's digital Viva Voce (dispute) on June 10. In this public event, she will conclude her artistic research project Space Automatism by discussion and reflection with the assessment committee. Due to the current situation, the event will be live-streamed. 

Space Automatism is a research into what place and context do to content and method with place itself as the protagonist. It treats political and structural questions in a series of site-specific theatrical and object-oriented situations. 

The protagonists are places like her artist-run theatre space, her office at Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA), NTA itself, the Norwegian Artistic Research Program, her kitchen and her plastic garbage, the cabaret theatre Chat Noir in Oslo, Det Norske Teaterets scene 3, Gallery F15 and a barn, museums in the north of Sweden and the Luleå Biennial, The National Theatre in Oslo, and even Venice (and more). The protagonists come as performances, theater, visual art, text and video based on characteristics found at the specific place as well as context and situation. All works are performed at site, in a critical and playful dialogue with itself.
