It Could Be Something Else

Vi har gleden av å presentere de kunstneriske utforskningene utviklet av førsteårs masterstudenter i scenografi ved Norwegian Theatre Academy / Høgskolen i Østfold, i samarbeid med Konservativen i Halden.

Studentene har undersøkt historien og fremtidsplanene for Norges eldste teaterbygning, med mål om å aktivere byggets nåværende situasjon og reflektere over mulige fremtidige bruksområder. De scenografiske intervensjonene, som søker dialog med både innbyggere og besøkende i Halden, presenteres gjennom denne utstillingen, som er åpen for publikum.

Vi forstår scenografi som et møte og en sammensmelting av arkitektur og teater, som kan ta form på scenen, i utstillinger og i det offentlige rom. Scenografi eksisterer ikke isolert, men etablerer alltid en dialog med et tema og et publikum. Vårt håp er at arbeidene kan inngå i en videre samtale om Konservativens felles fremtid – sammen med alle dere som er med på å forme Haldens kulturlandskap.

We are proud to present you the artistic explorations which the first year MA scenography students from Norwegian Theatre Academy at Østfold University College have developed in collaboration with Konservativen, Halden. The students inquired the history and future plannings of Norway’s oldest theatre building to engage its current state and reflect on imaginary future uses. The scenographic interventions seeking dialogue with the inhabitants of and guests to Halden are presented through this exhibition open to the public. We understand scenography as the meeting and blending of architecture and theatre which can take any shape on stage, in exhibitions and in the public space. Scenography does not exist alone, it fundamentally establishes a dialogue with a topic and with an audience. Our hope is for the works to be part of an ongoing continuing dialogue on the shared future of Konservativen, and with all of you shaping the cultural landscape of Halden!
