Jimu Makurumbandi
Hailing from Zimbabwe, Jimu Makurumbandi is a multi-talented musician, dancer, choreographer, fitness trainer, actor and storyteller. In addition to mastering the mbira and kora instruments, Jimu performs and teaches contemporary and traditional African dance forms, and is conversant in modern, ballet and jazz styles as well. Jimu has has toured Europe, worked long-term with the National Ballet of Zimbabwe and Statens Balletthøgskole in Norway, and has many years of experience with Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) in multiple capacities. A powerhouse of energy and talent, Jimu currently offers the fruits of his more than twenty years of dance experience as resident guest teaching artist with Spectrum Dance Theatre in Seattle. He currently collaborates with Gansango Music & Dance for teaching and performing as well.
