At the webpage of Rogaland Theatre the following, among other things, is written about 4:48 Psychosis:

"04:48 - that's the hour of the wolf, where depressive people are at their most vulnerable, but also their most alert. At least this is so, according to the British playwright Sarah Kane. She knew what she was talking about. She wrote the play 04:48 Psychosis shortly before committing suicide at the age of only 28 years old.

Despite the tragic theme, 4:48 Psychosis is characterised by a scarily poetic clarity, giving a nuanced picture of human breakdowns. This is theatre quivering of personal experience.

'It is myself I have never met, whose face is pasted on the underside of my mind', Sarah Kane wrote. In her play, the woman we meet commutes between her different identities- a fictional past as a young girl, an actual present as a 28-year-old woman, and a fictional future as a 40-year-old man. We take part in her internal conflicts and experience both chaotic despair and cynical sharpness.

04:48 Psychosis is about being human in our modern world: Our hope and wish for loving and being loved, and the destructive mechanisms we are captured within. And she is hard on herself, this woman, who is tired of hoping, and yet caught in her own web of - exactly - hope. This way, the performance is about suicide and love for life both, and in particular, it is about the everlasting human longing to leave a trace.

4:48 Psychosis is raw shock poetry and a story about the frailty of the mind, the state of pain and a moral confrontation with a world where it can be difficult to grab a foothold and to live up to demands. It is as simple as it is complicated, and a beautiful last will and testament from a desperate, poetic artist."
