Yogakrigen* (Yoga war)

At the webpage of Sogn og Fjordane Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Yogakrigen* (Yoga war):

"Earlier, women met around their kitchen tables to talk. Now, they attend yoga classes without talking at all. But in their thoughts, they yell. In their thoughts, they attack one another and not least themselves, with snide comments and emotional Molotov cocktails.

Imagine being able to see both these realities - the yoga and the war- take place at the same time, in front of you onstage. What is real, and what is a dream? What is said, and what is thought?

In this play, the audience is invited to a yoga lesson in the black box, with five women who all have struggles of their own. One is a single mother, living close to the poverty line. She is there for a free lesson, and finds it all unusual and rather strange. One has a positive approach to most, always at her best. A third is afraid she is shrinking and about to disappear completely. A fourth is expanding, growing bigger and bigger. She hardly has the energy to walk her dog, and she barely sees her husband, who is out for a jog all the time. At last, there is the yoga instructor. She is the least calm of them all.

Yogakrigen is new drama written in New Norwegian, with its world premiere at Sogn og Fjordane Theatre. It is a dreaming, associating performance within a framework of strict discipline. The women do yoga to get away from their daily lives for a short while. But on the mat, they can feel their daily lives stretching, and their muscles shivering from the pressure."
