In a press release from The National Theatre the following, among other things, is written about People, Places and Things:

"People, Places and Things is a new play by the acclaimed British playwright and director Duncan Macmillan, who had great success in London's West End in 2015. When the play now gets its Norwegian premiere, Icelandic Gísli Örn Garðarsson sits in the director's chair. His critically acclaimed production of Kafka's The Metamorphosis in 2012 ran on the main stage for sold-out houses for years."

At the website of The National Theatre the following, among other things, is written about People, Places and Things:

"Emma is a freelance actress, spending her life hunting for new roles. Onstage, she experiences life's most intense moments over and over again, while enjoying the spectator's applause. But Emma is also a drug addict and an alcoholic. Midway into the final scene of Chekhov's The Seagull, she breaks down, and she accepts admitting herself to a rehab centre.

In her treatment, Emma needs to learn how to avoid the people, places and things acting as triggers for her use. But who remains - when all these triggers disappear? What is the point of being sober when existence seems meaningless anyway? How can one become sober when intoxication and role play have been the only ways to survive? And how can one solve a problem one refuses to see that one has?"
