At the website of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Seven Days in August:

"How to live on after losing one's only child July 22?

During the span of a week, Sofie and Otto experience several minor accidents. Separately, they aren't too serious, but they reveal how life is about to crack; at home, at work and among friends. Is everything about to fall apart or is this just proof that the more important disaster in life isn't properly processed?

(...)

In the background, uneasiness lurks. There is a sense of fear, of something inexplicable and overhanging scary. Is the environment out of balance, or is this an image for the mental state of the married couple? The fragile, and what can swiftly change directions? Outside, storms surge, floods and ravines are features of the news, and Sofie's been bitten in her hand. She won't entirely consider if the biter can be the new aggressive tick. Is Armageddon near, or has life just become too intense? This week in August they, too, realise that life can't just go on as usual.

Brit Bildøen published (the Norwegian edition of, Sceneweb's comment) Seven Days in August in 2014, after which she won a novel award from listeners of the radio channel P2. She has personally adapted the novel for The Norwegian Theatre. In a downplayed manner, and wise, Bildøen writes about daily life characterised by mourning the loss of one's only child at Utøya."
