The Troubadour

The Troubadour (1945) was an opera production by The National Stage, based on the opera by Giuseppe Verdi (music), Salvatore Cammarano (libretto) and Leone Emanuele Bardare (libretto).

Solveig Engelsgaard directed it.

Sverre Jordan conducted it.

Per Grønneberg sang the role of Count Luna.

Svanhild Helland Hansen and Sofie Bull Øvrevik sang the role of Leonora.

Arne Hendriksen sang the role of the troubadour Manrico.

Randi Lindtner Næss sang the role of Azucena.

The Troubadour was the first production to be performed at The National Stage after the liberation of Norway after World War II. During opening night, both the royal anthem and the Norwegian national anthem were sung by the audience in unison.
