At the webpage of The National Stage the following, among other things, is written about Medealand:

"Medea has pursued love, she has chosen to trust Jason - that their relationship will last. She has gone with him to a foreign country, put her family and her entire life behind her, and trusted that she and Jason and the two children they have gotten will together make up a unity in this new country. When Jason finds himself a younger girlfriend, Medea loses her identity - she has nothing. In a way the free person is reduced to a worn-out woman.

Stridsberg's raw and at the same time poetic universe takes a stranglehold of the mother's role, of love, anxiety and ambivalence. The topic we present to the audience is in no way pleasant. But it is topical, thought-provoking and very good theatre."
