At the webpage of Black Box Teater the following, among other things, is written about The Pink Cloud Effect:

"The pink cloud effect is a term found in American alcohol abstention programmes in which the patient goes through 12 different stages. The phase often occurs early in the treatment process and is characterised by an intense feeling of happiness and faith in one's own ability to beat the addiction. However, the combination of euphoria and failure in reality understanding often leads to a relapse. The production's use of allegory and black humour is likely the closest one gets to the British in-yer-face theatre of the 1990es in 2016. All the text in Pink Cloud Effect has been sampled from soap series, reality TV, break-up forums and other dark corners of the internet. The production is presented as a paraphrase over addiction, the high and hangover from our collective need for affirmation.

Kjersti Aas Stenby (NO), Marit Sirgmets (EST) and Simona Bieksaite (LT) all have performing arts background from The Norwegian Theatre Academy in Fredrikstad (Østfold College University). Together they examine the balance between the humorous and the grotesque, and experiment with performance expressions, audience relation and visual landscapes."

The production was part of Oslo International Theatre Festival 2016.

Press coverage

Lillian Bikset, Overflaten er glossy, underlaget grelt, i Pink Cloud Effect (literally: The surface is glossy, the foundation garish, in Pink Cloud Effect, Dagbladet, 16.03.2016:

"All text has been found in soap operas, reality TV and discussion forums on the internet. American, all of it, if one is to judge from the language and the attitudes. The expression is light, airy, like the balloons scattered across the stage, but it is also angry and satiric. The satire mocks the light and airy as well as the angry- and what lies behind. Like the balloons (or are they inflated condoms?) Pink Cloud Effect eventually speeds up, lifts and soars."
