At the website of Sogn og Fjordane Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Fjordmann* (Fjord Man):

"The pulprit is Mads Trodal, the main character of Fjordmann. He is a quiet and calm boy who lives with his mother. One night, entirely unexpected, he commits this deeply disturbing avt. Why? What drove him? What happened?

Through interviews, monologues and scenes, Fjordmann shows the events and actions preceding the act, revealing layer by layer what forced it forward. The production is an attempt to understand, not to defend. Only through getting to know, without prejudice, the fear and hatred some people feel toward their surroundings and their fellow humans, we can prevent a similar thing from happening.

Characters and the span of actions hae been loosely base don the actual stories of several mass killers in our part of the world. Almost all are young, lonely white men. Fjordmann is the story of one of them."

Press coverage

Lillian Bikset, Når terroristen blir forklart (literally: When the terrorist is explained), Dagbladet, November 19 2015:

"What makes a person become an extremist and a terrorist? Sogn og Fjordane Theatre's Fjordmann* (Fjord Man) is an attempt at an explanation. Stig Amdam's play and production put far more emphasis on the personal and psychological factors than the political. As such, it joins a trend in which badly adjusted brown men's terrorism is explained ideologically - with Islam - whereas badly adjusted white men's terrorism is explained individually - with personal defeats. (...) Isaksen play Mads as a person who is afraid to take up place. His shoulders are sunken together, his hands crooked. Often he moves his fingers nervously. Only at a few occasions he looks the people around him in the eye. The acting style- for him and his colleagues - is pronounced, a step or two above realism on the scale toward stylisation. Still closer to realism than to stylisation, not over-acted, not a caricature, but made clear."
