Press coverage

Lillian Bikset, Utvandrere med innsikt (literally: Emigrants with insight), Dagbladet, May 6 2015:

"With 1880 Statsteatret is half-way into its Norwegian history production series. All of the productions so far have provided humorous history lessons with contemporary relevance. The tone of 1880 is somewhat more sombre than the previous, the acts of crazy comedy not as many or as frequent as in the former productions. There is a fateful consciousness in the retrospective narration form chosen, a knowledge of the destiny, that is to be followed in the plot. But do not misunderstand: This, too, is comedy, and the way the undersigned sees it, funny comedy, with efficient storytelling, quick changes in role, and high-paced compressed moves in time. Those who have seen the four former productions by Statsteatret, will recognise the signature effects of the company in its character humour, the moving-of-the-fourth-wall meta-theatre effects, the flirts with references from films and the physical and visual surprises."
