About Les Misérables
Les Misérables (2014) was a musical theatre production by Agder Theatre in collaboration with Rogaland Theatre, Sandnes Kulturhus and Festiviteten in Haugesund. Les Misérables was based on the musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, after the novel by Victor Hugo. The production had its premiere at Sandnes Kulturhus, and was later performed in Kilden in Kristiansand and in Festiviteten in Haugesund.
Lisa Kent directed it. She had directed the same musical for The National Stage in 2008, and for Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen in 2009.
Sigurd Sele played the role of Jean Valjean. He did the same for The National Stage in 2008.
Nils Christian Fossdal played the role of Javert.Read more

"When Lisa Kent in 2008 mounted Les Misérables for The National Stage in Bergen, she cultivated the differences between Jean Valjean and Javert, between mercy and brutality, reconciliation and revenge. When the same director, in collaboration with the same stage designer and the same Jean Valjean, interpret the musical anew, the question is how deep human goodness goes. (…) The choreography is less of a priority, but the quality of the singing is unusually high. In addition to the warring Jean Valjean (Sigurd Sele, who also interpreted the same role in Bergen in 2008) and Javert (Nils Christian Fossdal, less determined than we are used to see Javert), the suffering Fantine (Britt-Synnøve Johansen) and the hopeful Eponine (Marieke B. Wang) deserve to be mentioned especially. The latter is also the one of all the involved in the production who best manages to show human development in her interpretation of the role."
