Fem årstider* (Five Seasons)

Fem årstider* (Five season) is an in part internet-based, in part staged project by The Norwegian Theatre in collaboration with Dramatikkens hus, produced in 2013.

The basis is texts by Maria Tryti Vennerød, written during 2013 and regularly published at the webpage http://femarstider.no/.

Along the way four staged stunts with the actors Heidi Gjermundsen Broch, Jon Bleiklie Devik and Ingunn Øyen were performed in different public places. All of these stunts were directed by Maren E. Bjørseth.

The project ended in a production that was performed at The Norwegian Theatre. This was also directed by Maren E. Bjørseth, and the same three actors performed in it.

At the website of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Fem årstider* (Five Seasons):

"Media keeps us continuously informed about conflicts and tragedies taking place around the world. We can even travel to other countries and see what happens with our own eyes. Does that give us a responsibility beyond making the most out of our own lives, taking care of our bodies, our money, our children, our sex lives? Are we responsible, beyond being responsible not to harm others?

With short rehearsal periods and short notices the four theatre installations in the series Fem årstider have surfaced in Youngtorget and in The Botanical Garden in Oslo, at Sola Airport by Stavanger and most recently, in between shopping carts at Nordbysentret in Svinesund. In addition, Klassekampen has printed excerpts from the texts every season, with illustrations by Knut Løvås. The production Fem årstider has been created by the playwright and the director with basis in the stunts and in the texts from femårstider.no.

- My driving force in this project is my wish to relate actively to the time I live in, on a near daily basis. The frequent texts and the short way to publish them - and stage them - makes it possible to write rough drafts, spontaneously. As a fundament lays the question that is running through all my work; to which degree it is possible to take real responsibility of one's own life and what it, if so, means. This can be related to through small or large issues, but in Fem årstider the public discourse is often the starting point, Maria Tryti Vennerød says to the repertoire magazine Bakteppet."
