The Next Two Days of Everything

the next two days of everything was made by a smith. In the next two days of everything stories about journeys, about our problematic dependency of oil, about climate changes and disasters are told. But first and foremost the next two days of everything is a story of hope. Hope that, despite everything, things will work out fine.

In the next two days of everything a smith reflects on the ways we prepare to handle some of the worries of today, based on travels in Portugal, Singapore, Scotland, Russia and Norway. Thinking about some of our acts in the world, the context, result and consequences of them, in a purely human and personal manner, takes time.

the next two days of everything has chosen a simple performance style and the narrative voice of a smith is in its centre. the next two days of everything is an attempt of thinking about the big issues for a bit. Think about everything that is made of oil and we take for granted. From the clothes we wear to the ways we get around. And if tide water washes the streets, will we still get around? How long will we go on until we realise that we have to do things a bit slower, or perhaps not at all, that we can’t afford it, that we'd rather settle for dreaming a bit...

a smith is the artist name of Andy Smith, perhaps best known for his performance Innvandrer (2007, literally: Immigrant). He is a British theatre and performance artist who now lives in Norway. The past years a smith has worked combining different methods and styles within performance, theatre, visual art and text.

the next two days of everything was supported by Arts Council Norway.
