Norsk nok* (Norwegian enough)

Norsk nok* (Norwegian enough) is a production by Barske Glæder Productions:

Why did the Norwegian exile government in London never say anything about what they knew happened in the concentration camps? Why was the Norwegian police such an efficient tool for the German occupants? Why did we never, after the war, condemn the man who planned the deportations in court? What does the above tell you about Norway? And what is being Norwegian enough?

Early in the morning Thursday November 26 1942 100 taxicabs stand lined up in front of the Vigeland Sculpture Park. In every cab sits a Norwegian driver and three Norwegian police men. They await the signal to start the most efficient mass arrest and deportation in Norwegian history. They know what to do and they do it with Norwegian thoroughness. The same afternoon MS Donau embarks with 532 onboard. Only nine of them are to survive the war.

The Germans report back to Germany that the news of the transport spread like fire among Norway’s inhabitants, but that it did not awake any particular interest.

You always have a choice. Making choices is your responsibility all the time. Which are the choices you would have made during the war? Which choices do you make today, when you see abuse happen? Do you dare to interfere, or do you withdraw? Do you dare to rise and to help one being attacked – physically or verbally? Are there situations in which it is okay to bow your head and pretend nothing happened?

Courage is infectious. It is like a wave sweeping everyone along, also those who do not really dare... Do you agree?

Elisabeth Leinslie, 09.05.2010, Review titled Documentary theatre of high quality, Scenekunst, 24.08.2010, http://www2.scenekunst.no/artikkel_3518.nml:

"Norsk Nok* (Norwegian enough) is documentary theatre of high quality. The diverse textual material of scholar books, research material, news paper articles and descriptions by eyewitnesses are thoroughly chosen and well worked through, to the least detail."
