The Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum in Paris, established in 1793 by the French Republic, is one of the earliest European museums. It was originally a French royal palace.
Its collections of art range from ancient civilisations until the mid-nineteenth century.
Annually it is visited by some 8, 5 million visitors.
