BIT Teatergarasjen

BIT Teatergarasjen produces, coproduces and presents Norwegian and international stage arts within contemporary expressions. BIT in particular emphasizes projects stimulating international cooperation and collaboration crossing artistic genres. BIT arrange the two biennales METEOR (theatre) and Oktoberdans(dance).

BIT was established in 1983/84 as an international theatre festival. Since 1990, BIT has been a year-round operated stage location with BIT Teatergarasjen as its fixed arena.

As of today, BIT Teatergarasjen is one of Norway’s largest and most significant producers and co-producers of contemporary stage arts, cooperating with theatre houses, dance stages and festivals in several European countries on a regular basis.

BIT Teatergarasjen works actively within several local, national and international networks such as Bergen Art Festival (BergArt), Nettverk for Scenekunst (NfSk, Network for Stage Arts, shut down in October 2008), IETM and Junge Hunde.
