Danse- og teatersentrums jubileumspris (The jubilee award of The Norwegian Association for Performing Arts/NAPA) was a gift from minister of culture Trond Giske as part of the 30 year anniversary of The Norwegian Association for Performing Arts/NAPA in 2007, given to a production characterised by great artistic bravery.

The award is given Transiteatret, represented by Tore Vagn Lid, for the production Polyphonia – a visual audio play. The production Polyphonia by Transiteatret and Tore Vagn Lid is made in the intersection between theatre, music and development of a contemporary oriented and critically experimental theatre.

Polyphonia discusses double communication in society and its effects. Which life conditions for youth are represented by a childhood referred to the sharpened tension between the humanist ideals of society and schools, and the stories and reality images conveyed through the media of the culture and youth industries?

Through the musical counterpoint and the expression of the visual audio play, Polyphonia manages to turn the double communication to an operative strategy for a not naive discussion about the possibility of change.

Polyphonia is an original work, developed by an artist in dialogue with youth. The material is documentary, fragmented, funny and challenging. This is skilled artistic craftsmanship with a generous portion of artistic bravery.

  • Hege Haagenrud

Danse- og teatersentrums jubileumspris (The jubilee award of The Norwegian Association for Performing Arts/NAPA) was a gift from minister of culture Trond Giske as part of the 30 year anniversary of The Norwegian Association for Performing Arts/NAPA in 2007, given to a production characterised by great artistic bravery.

The award is given to Hege Haagenrud for her production Take My Hand, a dance production for children and youth.

Choreographer Hege Haagenrud proves just this artistic bravery in her work with performing arts for children. It is rare, unusual and liberating to see such a precise artistic expression in a project directed towards children. The production has a clear expressional artistic aim, while the total performing arts experience is maintained. Hege Haagenrud is a new voice in the Norwegian landscape of performing arts and her productions are at the time being among the most performed within The National Touring Network for Performing Arts.

In Take My Hand it becomes visible how the modern expression has its roots in classical dance. The production is about longing and about waiting for somebody who doesn't show up. Film is an important element in the performance, used actively onstage. Use of film makes it possible to show past and present time at the same time, so that we are provided with deeper insight in the characters' relationship to themselves and each other.

    Verk Produksjoner AKA Verk Productions

With the production Iphigeneia Verk Produksjoner AKA Verk Productions proved that they have such courage: They have taken on a tight and consciously composed, utterly demanding text by Finn Iunker, a new variation over the myth about the Greek princess Iphigeneia who was sacrificed to the Gods by her father, for the sake of wind to sail to Troy in The Middle East with his mighty army.

Her destiny already has inspired as different dramatists as Greek Euripides, French Jean Racine and German Goethe, and externally Finn Iunker is faithful to the classic story. But his precise revelation of the central personas of the play, not least the traditional Greek chorus, here consisting of two young girls who have come to town to flirt with the soldiers, makes this Iphigeneia a strong and striking satire over the madness of war in our own age.

Verk Produksjoner AKA Verk Productions consciously has selected an expressive, stylised expression to promote the comical potential of the text, and its unique theatricality. The elements of performance naturally play a significant part, among other things they contribute to the distinct rhythm of the production. But - and that is a brave choice by Verk - the most impressive part of Iphigeneia actually is the instruction come to the delivering of lines, and the actors' ability to perform textual theatre without idle moments.
