Laila Goody won The Hedda Award 2003 in the particularly excellent performance category for the role of Cathrine in Proof by Trøndelag Theatre.

The Hedda Jury gave the following reason:

"It may be hard to explain what separates the great actor from the very competent one - but it is connected to the rare ability of seemingly effortlessly blowing life into, defend and be one with the most diverse stage personalities, so that the pure angels as well as the darkest of crooks onstage step forward as nuanced, complex beings.

This ability the winner of the year has, and in her years working for Norwegian theatres she has proved that she is able to master the full range of roles. She may also have a special affinity for something as rare as young mathematics geniuses: The role of Thomasina Coverley in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia was her breakthrough in 1994. Now she gets The Hedda Award for her interpretation of another brilliant mathematician, Cathrine, in American David Auburn's Proof, staged by Trøndelag Theatre this spring.

Thus the winner is: Laila Goody."

Laila Goody also won The Hedda Award 2020 in the best supporting actress category for the role of Irina in The Seagull, The National Theatre (2019).

The Hedda Jury gave the following reason for the 2020 award:

"A supporting role is a significant part of most theatre production. It is about co-acting and to contribute to the quality of the performance. The nominated within the female category have most different roles, but whichever time perspective and age, they share some traits: They are all searching, they are vulnerable, and they are driven by their erotic forces. They stumble between the old phenomena 'sense and sensibility'and cynicism, with a dose of egotism mixed in.

The winner shines in expressing her role's vanity, aggression, and battle to be loved, physically or artistically - she would best like both. She stands forward as the diva she plays in the performance of juicy, tender lines, but also in the unsaid, through her looks. There is plenty of spite and lusciousness in this woman, a timeless character from the late 1800es."

Laila Goody also was nominated for The Hedda Award 2002 in particularly excellent performance category for the role of Eleonora in Easter by The National Theatre.
