Kathrine Hysing

Kathrine Hysing is a Norwegian stage designer and costume designer.

Kathrine Hysing was educated at The National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo and at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts (SADA) in Stockholm. Since then she has worked as a stage designer and costume designer within theatre, ballet and opera.

She was also the designer of The Museum of Contemporary Art's exhibition Per Spook – Norwegian Fashion Designer in Paris. At The Norwegian Opera she has been responsible for the stage design and costumes for many productions throughout the years.

Outside of Scandinavia she has been involved in opera productions in Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Paris, Nice, Antwerp, Glasgow, Dortmund and Stuttgart.

She has made a number of designs for Rogaland Theatre, including Garman & Worse & Co (1997) in the old gymnastics hall of Stavanger, where she recreated the town of Stavanger in miniature.

Kathrine Hysing was nominated for The Hedda Award 2006 in the best visual design category for her stage design and costume design for Drømmere* (Dreamers) at Rogaland Theatre.
