Ragnhild Arnestad Mønness

Ragnhild Arnestad Mønnes has toured with Akershus Theatre, worked for Hedmark Theatre, plus performed in self-produced productions at The Open Theatre (Det Åpne Teater), at Drammen's Theatre and at MS Innvik.

At Rogaland Theatre she has interpreted the roles of Kristin in Strindberg's Miss Julie (2006), Dolly in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina (2007), Mrs. Gottwald in Kielland's Poison (2007) and Ada in Walsh' The New Electric Ballroom (2007). In 2008 she played Agnes in Jon Fosse's The Child and the young woman in the same playwright's These Eyes, the latter directed by Oskaras Koršunovas. The autumn of 2008 she had the part of the wife in Man without Purpose by Arne Lygre.

The spring of 2009 Mønness Julia in Eyesight by Marius von Mayenburg, and afterwards she took part in the English-language mobile production Contractions by Mike Bartlett. The autumn of 2009 she interpreted the role of Fanny Wilton in John Gabriel Borkman by Henrik Ibsen. The spring of 2010 she had roles in We Who Are Hundred and The Jungle Book 2099. The spring of 2011 she was on the schedule in The Hulder, and the autumn of 2011 she took part in Peer Gynt, with the role of the Green-clad woman, among others.

The complete ensembles of the productions The Lady from the Sea and Perplex at Rogaland Theatre won The Hedda Award 2014 in the special artistic achievement category. Ragnhild Mønnes acted in Perplex, collaborating with Svein Solenes, Øystein Martinsen and Ingrid Rusten. In The Lady from the Sea the performers were Ingrid Rusten, Nina Ellen Ødegård, Cato Skimten Storengen, Helga Guren, Lars Funderud Johannessen and Glenn André Kaada.

The Hedda Jury gave the following reason:

"The jury is free to decide if to give out a Hedda Award in the special artistic achievement category. This year the jury wishes to do so. The award doesn't go to a director, stage designer or playwright. Nor is it given to a single actor. Based on two productions at one and the same theatre the award goes to the full cast for their ensemble play.

The jury wants to honour the interaction between actors; the collective process lifting the individual's strong performance to theatre experiences of particular quality and value. One of the productions is a classic, the other a modern play. In both cases we found in the interaction a clarity and a naturalism demanding generosity and a feeling of security in the cast. This collective is a condition for the theatre.

The special artistic achievement award goes to the full ensembles of the productions The Lady from the Sea and Perplex at Rogaland Theatre."

Ragnhild Arnestad Mønness was nominated for the Hedda Award 2021/2022 in the category Best supporting actress for her role in The saga of us.
