Stephen Sondheim
Stephen Sondheim (born 1930) is an American composer, lyricist and playwright.
In 1985 Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine (book) won The Pulizer Prize for Drama for Sunday in the Park with George.

Stephen Sondheim has won several Tony Awards, for best musical for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1963), for the original score and for the lyrics of Company (both awards given out in 1971), the original score for Follies (1972), the original score for A Little Night Music (1973), the original score for Sweeney Todd (1979), the original score for Into the Woods (1988) and the original score for Passion (1994). In 2008 he was the recipient of the honorary Tony Special Award for Lifetime Achievement, and in 2012 he was given an honorary Olivier Award for his contribution to London theatre.
In 1991 he won Oscar for the best original song for his song Sooner or Later (I Always Get My Man), written for the movie Dick Tracy.
In addition he has won a large number of Drama Desk Awards.
Stephen Sondheim has collected his lyrics in the books Finishing the Hat (2010) and Look, I Made a Hat (2011), in which he in addition to analysing his own craft also shares anecdotes and facts about American musical theatre in general.
