More

Teater Grimsborken has made its own universe free of time or room, in which Peer is no Norwegian hero, but a human of flesh and blood. On an empty alley stage with the spectators placed on both long sides the whole thing is performed through mime, verbal acrobatics and musicality.

In Teater Grimsborken’s version of Peer Gynt Peer lives on the memories about a childhood in excess. He acts like a child only a mother can love and he flees into fiction and life every time his surroundings oppose him.

Five actors, led by André Brunvoll in the title role, bring the audience along on a rollercoaster through Ibsen’s madcap universe. The production includes newly composed music with references to Norwegian traditional music as well as metal, performed live on violin, viola, horn, mouth harp and drum.

Peer Gynt by Teater Grimsborken was supported by The Fund for Performing Artists, the Freedom of Expression Foundation and The Norwegian Actors’ Equity Association’s fund for freelancers.
