Heat

Ensemble Fanfaronner laid the world wide premiere of the garbage opera Heat to The Open Theatre (Det Åpne Teater) the spring of 2009: Something is wrong with the ocean. It heats up every day. The world is boiling to death! The professor Brøyteplog (literally, the name means Snow Plow) sends the two research interns Rigmor and Ragnar to find the thermostat to turn down the heat. Rigmor and Ragnar embark on a journey to the North Pole, but the expedition keeps turning in directions making them forget the mission.

More

The opera Heat by Ensemble Fanfaronner raised issues such as love, responsibility, pride and doom: can the human beings stop the climate crisis? Who is the idealist and who is the opportunist? Who is the hero and who is destroying all future for the humans?

In 2006 Ensemble Fanfaronner visited Svalbard. Being inspired by the Arctic landscape was inevitable, and the involvement to slow down the development towards no-ice times popped up in the mind. The idea to create an opera in New Norwegian with a polar theme was conceived. Heat with Ensemble Fanfaronner was an opera in which music, text and visuality melted together.
