At the webpage of The National Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Fri* (Free):

"Elin sits in the park with her daughter. Her eye is caught by a young man who looks a lot like her brother, he rides a bicycle as fast, has the same dark hair and smiles the same way. Her brother died a year ago, and that is why she can't abide working. She hasn't got the energy for anything, really, but she has decided to arrange a confirmation celebration for her daughter anyway. And then comes granny; is she the salvation? Or will everything fall apart now?

Fri is a story about love. About all we tell each other and all that remains thoughts."

Press coverage

Lillian Bikset, Det skjulte i det åpne (literally: What is hidden in the open), Dagbladet 05.06.2015:

"As theatre makers Goksøyr & Martens have always been preoccupied with the breakdown. What leads up to it. What happens after it. How it is to live within it. Often they connect this to care and the lack of care. Who takes care of who? What happens when the caregiver is the one who breaks down? (…) To a large degree, the performance seems to be an excerpt from individuals' daily life. At the same time the deviations from realism - the managed switching between conversations through earphones, the thoughts in voice over, musical interruptions, an end sequence with soap bubbles - serve as reminders that this is art. It is made to make an impression, to awaken reflections or emotions. Fri* (Free) us theatre of the kind that leaves its conclusions to its audience."
