Metamorphoses and Iphigenia
When Gardzienice visited Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival in 2008 two performances was shown as a full-length performance. Metamorphoses opened in 1997 and Iphigenia in Aulis in La Mama Theatre in New York in 2007. What the two have in common is that they are both based on Greek myths.

"Metamorphoses" found inspiration in the Platonist Apuleius’ work "Metamorphoses", created in the transition phase when the old Greek gods Dionysus and Apollo had to recede for Christ and the new faith. Apuleius said about himself and his friends: "We, the members of Plato’s family, know only that which is solemn, joyful, holy, sublime, heavenly."
"Iphigenia in Aulis" was written by the great tragedy writer Euripides approximately 400 B.C. It tells the story about how Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter for good winds, so that the Greek troops can sail on to Troy.
In both these stories, as in all of Gardzienice’s work, the music, the song and the rhythm lie under and over as the pulse of the storytelling. In "Metamorphoses" the composer Marciej Rychly has taken inspiration from Greek music from the period 500 B.C to 200 A.D. "Iphigenia in Aulis" is accompanied by music composed and arranged by Zygmunt Konieczn. Both performances are directed by Wlodzimierz Staniewski.
