At the webpage of The National Theatre the following, among other things, is written abut The Faster I Walk, the Smaller I Am:

"The others are not like her. Even though Mathea has not been dealing with other people much, she has understood this. Basically she thinks that her life with her husband Epsilon (Nils Golberg Mulvik) has been enough, and while he has been at work in Statistics Norway, Mathea has stayed at home, baking meringues and knitting ear warmers. When Epsilon dies, during his first day of retirement, Mathea suffers deep mourning. Suddenly she is completely alone in the world. What if she dies before anybody knows that she has lived? Which are the traces she has left in life? Can one be afraid of dying while being afraid of living? Mathea decides to bury a time capsule, she finds her bridal gown again- and perhaps someone wants to ask her what time it is?

(...)

The whole thing started when Anne Marit Jacobsen read the prize-awarded book, called the publisher and said: This I have to do. Later she and Skomsvold collaborated forth a draft for the script. When Margreth Olin joined, the trio was complete. The role of Mathea is as created for one of the most experienced actors of our time. Memories and present tense slide into one another, an unusual tragicomedy steps forth."
