UMA by Carte Blanche and the choreographer Örjan Andersson. Örjan Andersson creates new works for Europe’s foremost dance companies, using his recognisable style, characterised by a strong musicality and intense precision. His works have been receiving critical acclaim all over the world and has given him several prizes and awards. The autumn of 2008 he created UMA for Carte Blanche together with his steady stage designer and light designer Jens Sethzman.

The Swedish choreographer Örjan Andersson began his career as a choreographer when he worked as a dancer in Ohad Naharin’s Batsheva Dance Company in Israel during the 1990es. After returning to Sweden he started his own company, Andersson Dance Company, regularly touring Sweden and internationally. In 1996 Andersson created his first commission work for the Cullberg Ballet, and later on he has choreographed for companies such as Nederlands Dans Theater, Batsheva and Carte Blanche. Norway’s dance audience will know him from The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Motett och Sågning and Hotell Stensson, all performed by Carte Blanche during the late 1990es and in 2000. In steady collaboration with scenographer and light designer Jens Sethzman, Örjan Andersson is met with high expectations whenever he creates something new. UMA was danced by all the twelve dancers in Carte Blanche.
