Dead and Wrapped in Plastic

Presenting by Fiksdal /Lie. "Welcome to the open day of the Nature Historical Museum, where our hostess Laura P. wants to give the audience an unforgettable guided roundtrip through our bloodied surroundings, under the following restriction: Never talk to anyone about what you have seen.

We will be visited by a very special guest and the Polar Bear Knut will be holding the lecture The owls are not what they seem in the activity room. Adults and children are welcome to a day during which, according to our psychic hostess, it will all end horribly wrong."

The project was part of the series Dans Til Folket (Dance to the People) during the festival Oktoberdans 2008.

"Dans Til Folket – a dogma dance project – is a not very camouflaged attempt at partly copying the Dogme 95 Manifesto launched during the Film Festival in Cannes in 1995, and to direct the spotlight towards the truly free and non-commercial dance in Norway as of today."

The goal with the project Dans Til Folket (literally meaning: Dance to the People) was to move the focus towards the good story playing in real time and unexpected places by challenging the way of thinking about a dance production and to emphasise different, at times unexpected, terms in the meeting between artists and audience. The choreographers and companies Fiksdal/Lie, Hege Haagenrud, Linda Birkedal/Molitrix Scenekunst and Rebekka/Huy were invited to participate. Each chose their arenas in Bergen. The results were presented during the festival Oktoberdans 2008.

"As Von Trier and Vinterberg of Dogme 95 underlined in Cannes, Dans Til Folket in Bergen 2008 also directed a mild creative critic, was a counterweight, towards the commercialization and uniformity taking place in Norwegian dance of today. The budget size, the technical rigs and the degree of using effects seems to be allocated a larger and more central room, whereas the content pays the cost. The productions shall be directed towards an audience as large as possible, and to be as suitable for the advanced onlooker as the one watching dance art for the first time. Independent of gender, age, ethnic origin and economic ability, Dans Til Folket shall meet the ordinary folks!"
