Eraritjaritjaka
Eraritjaritjaka (2004) is a musical theatre production by Heiner Goebbels.
Eraritjaritjaka is the Aborigines' word for longing,
In the theatre production the actor André Wilms performs texts from the diaries of the writer Elias Canetti, while the recognised string quartet Mondriaan Quartet responds with music by composers including Shostakovich, Bach and Gavin Bryars.
Music, text, light and image merge in a production proving that theatre cannot always be classified within certain categories.
Eraritjaritjaka by Heiner Goebbels has won the following awards:
- Prize called "Future of the Theatre" awarded by the Polish theatre critics 2005: Details can be had at the Warsaw Festiwal Festiwali Teatralnych Spotkania (Poland).
- Grand Prix Mira Trailovic, 39th BITEF FESTIVAL 2005 (Belgrade).
- Grand Prix de la Critique, Paris, in the category of best foreign performance 2005.
- Prize in the category of best director, given out by the newspaper POLITIKA, 2005 (Belgrade).
- OPUS Stage Prize 2005, in the category of directing, details can be had from Frankfurt Music Fair.
- Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh International Festival 2004.
