At the webpage of Hege Haagenrud the following, among other things, is written about De grenseløse* (The Limitless):

"We are in an institution where a young girl has chosen to live isolated, away from the world. She regards herself as a victim of exterior powers and is diagnosed with most of the physical ailments that are typical of her time.

The action of the piece is a product of her imagination and compulsion. We see the world though her eyes, we see her flaws and faults the way she sees them; we see her subconscious.

She is limitless, unable to shield herself from expressions and influence from the outside.

The music is composed by Rebekka Karijord, with song and voice-over by Amalie Stokke Karijord.

The texts used for the girl's voice-over has been found in blogs written by youth who inflict damage on themselves, or in other ways put too hard a pressure on their own bodies.

With video as a carrying element in the performance we may get a deeper perspective on her subconscious and dreams.

Finn Skårderud writes in his book Turmoil about the limitless human, how some in search of limits go to the extreme (the translation is done by Sceneweb's Lillian Bikset for the sake of this Sceneweb entry, it is not from an official translation of the book):

'They withdraw, shut off, diminish themselves, they seek intoxication or oblivion. The symptoms are limiting - in relation to others, to tomorrow, to demands and expectations. In the meeting with the anorexic, growing smaller and smaller, I think that she or he is striving to find the minimal self, small enough and neat enough to control. This is existential weight-loss.'

(...)

Music, sound, movement and image constitute a story rooming strong emotions open to interpretation."
