More

At the webpage of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Then Silence:

"In Then Silence expression and content melt into one another in a tight composition. In ten different scenes Arne Lygre asks what kind of roles human beings are forced into to survive. The scenes have been written as conventional dramatic dialogues, but all the way they are accompanied by their own commenting dialogue.

A dangerous game

Three out-zeroed characters stay in a place of nowhere. They attempt to phrase the world. They produce fragments of a past or visions of a future or perhaps allegoric analyses concerning our contemporary age. The world we may glimpse behind the fragments is neurotic, characterised by desire, the need to transgress limits and anxiety. And the play is characterised by unquiet, unquiet as to the direction this neurotic world may develop in.

New Norwegian

Under the vignette New Norwegian (NY NORSK, in Norwegian spelled almost like the title of the language form used by The Norwegian Theatre, save that the language form is spelled in one word, whereas the vignette used a pause between New and Norwegian, Sceneweb's comment) The Norwegian Theatre and its artistic director Vidar Sandem in 2009 present there promising young contemporary playwrights. When spring comes, Erlend Sandem and Arne Lygre are who are staged in Prøvesalen (literally: The Rehearsal Room)."

Writer Arne Lygre received economic support from Arts Council Norway for his playwriting.
