Åarjelhsaemien Teatere AS

Åarjelhsaemien Teatere/Sydsamisk Teater (literally: The Southern Sami Theatre) was founded in 1985, and transformed into a project theatre in 2000. Åerjelhsaemien Teatere aims to tour the traditional Southern Sami areas of Nordland, Nord-Trøndelag, Sør-Trøndelag and Hedmark.

Åerjelhsaeminen Teatere shares the building of Nordland Theatre and its administration is funded by the Sami parliament Sametinget. For productions the theatre applied for external funding until 2010, after which it got over to being publically funded. The artistic staff members are hired on a per production basis.
