Ragnhild Hilt

Ragnhild Hilt (1945-2014) was a Norwegian actress, employed of The Norwegian Theatre from 1971.

She was the daughter of the sculptor Odd Hilt and educated at The National Academy of Theatre.

At The Norwegian Theatre, Ragnhild Hilt made her debut as the main character Anne Boleyn in Anne of the Thousand Days by Maxwell Anderson in 1971. Later, among much else, she played the role of Ragnhild in Fellow Man by Olav Duun, the title role of Antigone by Jean Anouilh and several roles in the Beckett programme Seks Beckett* (Six Beckett) (1975).

Ragnhild Hilt interpreted the title role of Madame de Sade by Yukio Mishima (1989), Nurse Ratched in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey (1992) and Hege in Vesaas' The Birds (1997). She acted the role of Gunhild Borkman in Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman (2000), the mother in Fosse's Beautiful (2001) and the woman in Fosse's Rambuku (2006). In 2012 she had the role of 3 in Jonas Hassen Khemiri's We Who Are Hundred and the mother in The Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents by Lukas Bärfuss.

The 2014 version of Nothing grows by moonlight was the third version of the play with Ragnhild Hilt as the nameless woman. She had also performed the play in 1982 and 1996, at the same theatre. It became her farewell performance.

The National Academy of Theatre
