Alexei Merkushev
Alexei Merkushev made his debut in 1986 as a dancer and actor after graduating from the Art Academy in St. Petersburg. The following year Alexei Merkushev was among the founders of the eventually very famous Russian underground theatre Derevo, for which Merkushev worked for more than a decade.

The underground theatre Derevo is a physical theatre company inspired by Butoh. While working for Derevo Merkushev also worked forth a number of solo projects St. Petersburg, Florence and Wroclaw. In 2000 Alexei Merkushev and Adriano Miliani established Jack and Joe Theatre, for which Alexei Merkushev now works as an actor, producer and artistic director.
